Rare 1950s Child’s Wolverine Strawberry 6-pc Canister Set (pmtze)
Wolverine Supply & Mfg. Company of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania was established in 1903 by Benjamin F. Bain as tool and die operation. Wolverine agreed to tool a sand toy for a company that failed and Wolverine was left with tooling for sand toys. The company then developed an impressive line of Sandy Andy toys and a large line of housekeeping toys such as stoves, sinks, refrigerators, washing machines, cleaning sets, tea sets, salad sets and more.
This is a rare set of Wolverine Strawberry Canister Set, consisting as follows:
2-pc Sugar Canister with lid 2.5in H, 2.5in in diameter 2-pc Coffee Canister with lid 2.25in H and 2in in diameter 2-pc Tea Canister with lid 2in H and 1.5in in diameter
All canisters are in good vintage condition with the usual age wear such as paint loss, surface rust, scratches, soiling, etc., common to this type of tin sets. It is marked: Wolverine, Made in USA. This set if complete with the bread box and flour canister is worth $200-275.00. (1870-1970 Housekeeping Toys page 104) Package weight is about a pound.
